They are small, the peaceful part depends on how you set them up.

I got into cichlids a couple of months ago through some coworkers. I initially had a malawi tank but turned to tang tank with shelldwellers soon after. I googled shelldwellers and the rest is history.

I was doing some research about a pair of shellies that i just recieved and stumbled across this site. I sure hope that it turns out to be helpful, seeing that I have still not been able to ID these 2 guys that I have aquired.

Greetings from Long Islant, NY! I was sent by SpookyFish (of NYcichlids and CichlidKeepers). I will be hosting a tank of his breeders. I, among others, am helping him build a new 30,000G Hatchery in upstate NY. I have apparently caught the Shellie bug from him. there seems to be a lot of that going around...

Hello everyone! I'm looking to convert an almost empty 10 gallon to a shellie tank. Did a google search for types of shellies and I came across one here, and linked me in! Sorry, can't remember which one specifically, but it was a stappersi.....I think that is what I am going to try to find.

A little advice from someone who learned the hard way. Male stappersi (meleagris) can be pretty tough on the females. I had a male in a 20g who killed three females. I would advise you to stick with multies or brevis. Good luck with whichever one you choose and keep us posted.

I knew I wanted some cichlids but I was figuring on having a ten gallon tank so I think I googled small cichlids.
