Several months ago I couldn't get my Gold Occie's to reproduce, now they won't stop. My grow out tank is full and the 15 gallon that houses the parents has about thirty fry in there with more to come.

Have any of you guys or gals out had this problem? If so what did you do? I don't want to flush the fry but I don't know enough that will take them.

Philly as in Philidelphia???  I might have a cousin in Philly...

If you allow your fish to be their own population control, that'll take care of your problem.  Or another idea would be to add them to another tank w/ potential breeders.  The little protein rich fry could serve a better purpose other than just flushing... They could be spawning triggers!  Now, tell me, what better way to go?

...or would you wanna try selling and shipping some fry my way?

I had the exact opposite happen w/ my goldies... One crazy mean one killed all the rest but one little deformed one...and then the mean one up and croaked!

Add me  to the list  of  folks  that would  like some  shipped  !  I really   want to get  some  golds

If you  don't want to mess with  shipping  just  take them to  your local  clubs auctions/swaps, or trade them in at your favorite LFS

Sorry for not getting back to you guys right away. I have been working alot.

The first batch that is ready goes to my LFS. If it wasn't for the guy at the LFS I would be dead in the water.  He ordered the fish for me......gave them to me at a cheaper price......taught me how to keep them......and then gave me pointers with breeding.  I went past the LFS faithfully every week like a horny high school student to sex ed (hope that wasn't inappropriate).  I started out with Malawis and quickly switched to Tangs. I just started keeping fish almost a year ago. So I figure he at least deserves the first batch.

However when the second and third batches are ready i think i will give shipping them a try......or if any of you guys are in the area when they are ready I will meet you.

I also have some Lamprologus Meleagris that will be ready to mate later this year. I'm assuming that I will have the same overcrowding problem that I am now having with the gold occies.

The same LFS that got me the Occies is working on getting me some Similis. He thinks that he will be able to get me some around the end of the year. So hopefully I will be able to offer the Similis some time in the future if I can get them to breed.

How did I know you'd respond to that Sean?   LOL ! !! !! !

Hey Panch, there has to be a fish club of some sort in Philly that will help you move your occie's. Have you checked online to see if there's one around? This was the first one I came across ... is it near ya?
