In my experience....best to leave both parents with fry

Trouble only comes when you remove the fry.....have plenty of rocks for female to hide in!

ok, well my occies have just spawned  again.
normally when they spawn, the female will guard the shell for a few days
then the male would bury the shell and smash up the girl.
so this time  i have taken him out.
she has been guarding it now for 3 days.
fingers crossed!

it was fine.
she guarded the shell and now have a free swimmer.
it was really weird but she only had one fry.

so i guess it was succesful.
