That's very sweet looking, the old and the new setup!

Downsizing, What is that?  Oh, just another way of saying I'm going to get rid of a species or two to make room for more species.

This pile of rocks on the left side is a cave which little brichardies are using as resting and hiding place from alpha male multi.  It's not a branch it's root from alder tree (joha po domaći Smiley) which groves on river or swamp banks (roots are under water).
hey, I want  Joha root in my aquarium Cool  Grin Grin Joha,i don't know on english on latin is Alnus glustinosa,Honestly, I did not know that, my wife knows .. lol
Brichardi? In this case, this is super.I didn't read from the beginning.
are you not afraid that it will kill your multifasciatus when they grow up(Brichardi?)

It takes about 2 years for brichardies to reach fool size (about 4-5 inch). In my tank the biggest is 1 inch long. As they reach the size of biggest multi I will change them for small ones. Some people told me that multies show their true behavior when there is another spices in a tank. As the joha root, I should soon have a lot of it, than I will contact you.

Your tank looks super, Grale!  I've one question for you...how do you maintain the sloped substrate?  I would think either the multis or the current, one would have disrupted it.  Do you have rock-work under there to maintain the integrity of it?  Just curious...

Keep up the good work!

I don't. It's the alpha male multi job. He was digging and moving substrate (0,3-0,6mm quartz sand) nearly two months until he was satisfied. I was trying do setup on my way but he sabotaged it another day Smiley (he also buried that valsineria plant and it starts to perish so I took it out). So I decide to follow his lead. If you watch earlier pictures of thank you can notice that this root was rose up in the air. He moved all the sand under root until it falls down like now. I tried several time to put it in a original position but he knock the root down every time (and I thought that I am stubborn Grin. But you gotta love them because of that).   I watched some Tanga Lake documentaries and I noticed that they like to build they colonies in "crater" like holes for protection from predators. I think that is what he was trying to do. To rise up substrate walls around shells. The problem is that he move all the substrate underneath the shells all to the glass bottom. That's why I covered all the glass surface with shells to protect it.

w/ a flash light and mirror... sometimes you can see what all the fuss is about!  They go down to the glass alright, and sometimes you can see fry looking up from the bottom.  I put the flashlight on the glass top, shining into the pit, and from underneath the tank, glows the multie underworld.

Some say they've unearthed crude calendars and even small sand moving tools

I've got some good news and some bad news about my tank. Good news is that I got fry Grin, and the bad news is that since than one male (not alpha) is pushed out from all the tribe behind that inner filter, and they won't let him out from there Undecided. They attack him if he goes out. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

cool vids

fun to see that your multies keep the brichardi on the rocks!  I know you said you'd trade the brichardi for smaller ones as they grow, but I'd like to see how they get along when the size difference shows itself.

nice background music

you have some nice plants in your other tanks

I've never seen a desk tank w/ the shape of your betta tank......unique to me.

I really like this tank and I very much enjoyed looking at your amazing pictures, thank you.
I like the shell bed, I also had a similiar set up and it's very true what you say about the crater, all the shells fall in to the crater and the Multis kept on digging, your tank is very natural loking, you must be very pleased that they have spawned.......... Well done...... Smiley
