I've never had a problem with my female or male cyps eating the fry.  I did, however; have issues with the similis eating/picking on the fry when they were released.

Downsizing, What is that?  Oh, just another way of saying I'm going to get rid of a species or two to make room for more species.

hmm i thought similis of a cichlids would the least likely to eat/pick any fry..

My gal was holding again, and being chased all over the tank by the 5 males and other fish just trying to be pesty.  I finally caught her and put her in a tank by herself.  She dropped a couple eggs, but must have a few more in her gills.  She's resting...whew...what a chase.

I'd sure like to raise up some more females to even up the school.

Fish head, its better if you let them be until they sleep. Its much easier to catch them when they dont move  Wink
