ok so i finally got round to getting more Multies after my last order (all were dead on Arrival)..

anyways i ordered 6 multies for £80 including delivery, only 1 died on delivery, and i happend to be the largest male but luckily i had another male.. anyways the 1 male that i have was sitting at the corner of the tank for 2 days until i decided to try and feed it brine shrimp from which it then Jumped back to life and ate everything edable around it..

just wondering if anyone else has had the same problems with male multies dying whilst being delivered as all of the females were fine..

how are they packed?  how long in shipment?  what's the outside temp?

multies are pretty tough fish, but shipment can be tougher, maybe?

glad to hear you got enough to get your colony started!

Hi, glad to hear you got more Multies, if you don't mind can I ask where you ordered them from, I know because of the weather that Trimar aint sending orders out just now, I myself managed to order 2 more Multis and 3 Dickfeldi from Wildwoods, fingers crossed, would love to see some pics.?

@fish head

each fish was packed individually, (6)  rapped in newspaper and 2 heatpacks placed in the poly box.

not too sure about the temperature, and the fish that died had only just died as their was no fungus etc..

@kiriyama

i ordered them from Dartford-Aquatics, and yes i will try and get pics (just need to find a camera Smiley

Look forward to seeing pics, I used Wildwoods in Novenber, got 6 Multis, 1 Juli Dickfeldi, 1 Caudopunk. All individually bagged, heat packed, even bags of warm water in the box. Looking forward to reciving my new fishes on Tuesday. Eventually having a seperate Multi tank, have been looking on here at Brevis and Occie tanks, great forum....

iv currently got 5 multies in a 4 ft Long x 2 ft high tank lol.

just so that i can see them do their own thing and build their colony,

Is it common for multis to seperate into groups as 2 multis have moved to the oposite side of the tank and seem to be happy.

w/ no threats, they will enjoy the whole tank!

I sometimes wish I could do some things over again.  I've watched multies own a 10 gallon, and then fill up a 5 gallon, and also maintain a nice territory in a 120 community tang tank.  But what I would really enjoy is watching multies all by themselves in a 30 gallon or bigger tank.  ...someday...

I have mine in a 20 gallon at the moment, when the shells were spread out they seemes to divide into 3 pairs , left middle and right, now all the shells are at the right hand side of the tank its quite frantic with all the digging and darting in and out of shells, getting 2 more on Tuesday , can't wait.... fish head
I know what you mean about starting over, when I first got my tank I didn't know what to put in it so was just Glowlights , Lemon Tetras and some snails , had it heavily planted.....
IF I had done some research and used the forums for a while I think I would go for something like a tank of 3 foot long, 15 inch deep and if possible only 12" high, I would have 8 - 10 Multis and a Bristlenose Plec. OR same tank dimensions but with a couple of Julis, a Bristlenose Plec. and a couple of Gold Occies (rally liking the Occies)......

well at the moment iv also got 50+ guppies in with the multies Cry

because i used 6 guppies to help cycle the tank and they started breeding like rabbits  Shocked

but in a few weeks where their old enought i will sell the guppies to my lfs (my aunt  Grin) and give the multies the full 55 gallon to themselves Grin

and yes i know none would put guppies in a tang tank, it was strictly to cycle until they started breeding so dont bother Flaming)

Having multies by themselves is probably the best.  I have two multie tanks (15 gallon and 30 gallon) and it's awesome (minus 4 dithers in the 30 gallon) but I would like to add a 3rd tank of multies.

"just one more tank..."

Downsizing, What is that?  Oh, just another way of saying I'm going to get rid of a species or two to make room for more species.
