« on: November 02, 2016, 09:37:47 PM »
Hey everybody I wanted to say new to the group and very excited about the Shellie's !  I have had fish my whole life and most recently saltwater.   About 20yrs ago I was breeding angels and julichromis regani and daffodil cichlids so ecited about starting again.   Have a 45g rimless and several smaller tanks I want to setup.

Welcome to the group. :) Have you started looking into any shellie in particular? They really are fascinating little fish and great fun. I finally got into shellies myself just last spring and wish I had done it sooner. Really enjoying the tank. Hope you keep us posted and share your experiences.

Welcome to the forum. As Rupert said, what are your plans concerning shell dwellers?  What tanks are you setting up? Do you want to breed your fish or will they be display tanks?

I generally encourage folks to check with their local aquarium clubs and local breeders. Especially when you need to buy numbers of juveniles to get a pair, it can really make a world of difference in your hobby budget. Sometimes you can find them at an LFS. There are multiple online retailers and sites like aquabid, and many folks nowadays use them with great satisfaction. I see we are both in Missouri. Depending on where you're located, I might be able to give you some local options. If interested in that, hit me up with a PM.
